The Fred Sirieix-hosted dating show is moving out of London. The dating show, hosted by French maitre d’ Fred Sirieix, has been filmed in central London’s Paternoster Chop House for 15 series, but is set for a switch in location. And Bristol is also set to benefit, with Channel 4 and production company Twenty Twenty funding a training scheme for up to 24 production staff based in the city. The trainees will work on the show’s casting, research, editing and directing, HullLive reports. First Dates will move its full casting team to Bristol, as well as the story-editing team and members of the post-production team. Twenty Twenty managing director Leanne Klein said: “We have already begun tapping into the fantastic local talent pool in Bristol from where we are putting together our new team of casters and date editors. We are thrilled to be investing in new diverse talent with Twenty Twenty. The news comes after Channel 4 marked the opening of its new Creative Hub in Bristol earlier this month.

First dates can be hard enough for people who stammer. Imagine being filmed for a television programme whilst on one! Participants know nothing about the date they have been set up with other than what they look like, from an emailed photograph. I found out about it via a link on the BSA Facebook page , saying that Channel 4 were looking for people who stammer to audition. Ten minutes later I had a phone call from one of the producers, Joe, who gave me a brief phone interview daunting I know, but Joe was very nice and made me relaxed as he knew I stammered.
He asked me about myself, what kind of girls I like and how my stammer affects me. He seemed really interested, and a few days later I got the call to go to London to audition. I was worried that I was going to come across as a bumbling, crying idiot and people were going to laugh at me. The audition was basically an extended filmed version of the phone interview, with a bit more emphasis on my stammer.
It was very relaxed and Joe was eager to get me on the show, and a week later I had confirmation that they wanted me. It was at this point I started getting nervous and excited all at the same time; I suddenly realised that I was going to be stammering in front of millions of viewers all over the UK! I was worried about my voice and how it would come across.
I hate listening to my own voice so I could only imagine what others would think. But I knew it would be a good thing to do as it would put me outside my comfort zone and also hopefully raise awareness of stammering.
